It’s hard to believe we’re one-third of the way through January already! Are YOU keeping up with your New Year’s resolution? Dr. Chris Angello and his staff here at your Grand Junction chiropractor’s office want to keep you motivated every step of the way. This week, try to move a little more each day by taking extra steps – literally.

Research suggests taking 10,000 steps each day is a great way to begin your goal of a healthier and fitter you. These days, you can easily track your step count with a pedometer, an app on your smart phone, or a fitness tracker. Start counting from the time you get up in the morning until you get into bed at night. You might be surprised how much – or how little! – you actually walk each day. Ten-thousand steps adds up to roughly five miles. If that sounds like a lot, we have some suggestions to help get that step count up there!

• Take the stairs! Sounds obvious, right? An easy way to sneak in more steps is to take the stairs whenever possible…and not just coming in and leaving work. For example, if your office is on the third floor, try walking down to the first floor restroom whenever you have to go instead of using the one on your floor. Those extra steps will quickly add up!
• Park further away! We know it’s human nature to park as close to the front door as possible. Your Grand Junction chiropractor suggests you try and park as far away from the entrance as you can – weather permitting, of course! The further, the better. Remember, your goal is to hit 10,000 steps each day!
• Walk the dog! Many of us have pets, especially dogs, and there is no better reason to get out and get walking. Bring the kids and get the whole family involved! It’s fun, it’s good exercise, your dog will LOVE it, and it’s the best way to get that step count up! Even if you don’t have a dog , get out there and start walking, even if it’s just around your block.

These are just a few tips to help keep you moving and working toward your fitness goals. Remember, every step counts! We’re proud you chose Spine & Injury Center as your Grand Junction chiropractor, and we hope to be with you every step of your journey…..
